So in hindsight I would have buiried cable out to my shop and ran a separate wi fi out there. But alas I did not.

So I can get wi fi with the garage doors open. In the front half of the shop ( closest to the house). With the doors shut I can get it right next to the door.

Recommend me a wi fi extender. Remember I will have tin on the front of the shop next year.

Ideally an outdoor antenna with either a hard connection to an inside peice or something like that

My shop is all metal (no signal at all with the doors closed) and about 150 feet from the router (out of range) so I went with a powerline wifi unit. Works great to set up a second wifi network out at the shop. All I need is a internet connection that I can search with and allow phone calls, not doing anything heavy out there. Also its transmitting from one sub-panel, to the main panel, then out to the shop sub-panel. Going through about 6 circuit breakers without any issues.

I grabbed an old Linksys router I had on hand and loaded DD-WRT firmware on it, so it "shares" a connection. It's sitting in a location where it gets good signal from the house, then it re-distributes wifi into the shop, but I also have an ethernet cable from the back of it to my blu-ray media player.

You could also look into an outdoor antenna for a router that sits somewhere in the middle of the shop.

I use an Alfa Camp Pro 2.
It has an antenna i hung in a tree to recieve wifi from the lodge 300 yards away.
Directs the signal down a wire and into my camper where it has it's own router and creates a wifi network.
It works really well.
They are designed for RV use.

It does need 110volt power though, so i use a 50 watt solar panel to charge a pair of truck batteries and a 300 watt DC/AC inverter.
Kinda nice having lights too since most of my windows are covered in 2" of foam so i don't freeze to death.

Anyhow, the antenna portion is water proof.

I had one of those C Crane wifi amtenna 2's and moisture ruined it.

This Alfa Camp Pro 2 is WAY higher quality and it generates a pretty large wifi network that i can even use outside my 1962 Aluminum camper.

Pictures; the white candlestick thing in the tree is the water proof antenna.

The silver box next to the Ruger LCP is the indoor router.

I am using it right now and the wifi signal is coming from our guest network router located in the attic of the lodge 300 yards away.

I recently upgraded service at home to the local fiber company. They offered the AirTies routers that create a mesh network. One router is in the house where the original one was. A second is in my garage where wifi was useless before. They talk to each other on 5GHz and then each use 2.4GHz for the network in the house and garage and extend the network out into my garage and yard quite well. It will also seamlessly transition between the house and garage units as I move back and forth.

I’m not a tech-savvy person. I bought the only one that Lowes sells, about four years ago, Belkin brand, about $40, and it worked perfectly for about three years before it died. In my opinion that seemed like a good deal versus something three times as much that would probably last just as long.

Believe it or not. I’ve had the same apple airport WiFi router for nearly 10 years now. Works great. They make extenders that use AC power lines that would seem to be a good option in this case if your house has the main WiFi station.

You might also want to check out the new mesh wifi systems. Netgear makes one called Orbi that's a little pricey but makes an add-on unit specifically for outdoor use that's supposed to work real well up to a couple hundred feet away from the base unit. I went with Google Wifi when I had to replace my router not too long ago since I have a smaller house and only needed two units. Been real happy so far.
