for now, Ill be running a front 44 with 8 lug outers and 2" wheel spacers on unmodded H1s. The rear I have is a regular 14ff srw from an 85 K30. What parts do I need to widen it to 70-73 inch wms-wms to run H1s without spacers? I have seen quite a bit of mixed info on this, but Im looking to do this swap now and need a hard answer so I can pick up whatever I need. Also, anyone know offhand the wms-wms length on the d44 8 lug?

Without wheels spacers, afaik, your only option is a D70HD from a dually.

Edit: assuming your axle if from an SRW truck you already have the bearing hubs with the widest mounting flange.

Find a 14ff from a van thats what Im runnin.
Sorry its an older pic but you get the idea.

so throwing dually pickup outers on wont widen the wms-wms? arent the dually pickups wider between the wms than the 67" srw trucks?

yes the dually is wider(not the c&c), add srw hubs to a dually and its even better.

Duallies are wider because the housing itself is wider.

one more question, then I promise Im through! I am now trading my srw axle for the wide drw axle, then I want to further push it out by putting on srw hubs. Is there a write up on how to do it somewhere? What parts need to be swapped over, and is there any fab work it needs to be done? Thanks again guys!

edited to add- for now, I will NOT be running disc brakes, just keeping the drums on the back, may go disc later when uncle sam decides to pay me more

Afaik, swapping to srw hubs will force you to go to disc brakes. Using the srw hubs will move the drum outboard (since it's attached to the hub) therefore it will no longer reach deep enough to cover the shoes, etc..

I can't remember if anyone makes a bolt on disc swap for this conversion, seems like it may require a weld on bracket.

if thats the case, would I be able to simply remove the backing plate bracket from the tube and reweld it further outboard on the axle and have it work?

That would work fine. The backing plate is bolted to a flange, it would probably be tough to cut the flange loose without killing but but it would be easy enough to make one. Maybe get Kert @ Diy4x to make it if you don't have the materials. In fact, sine he makes a disc kit (for the stock location) he would already have the dims for the tube dia and bolt pattern of the flange.

I did a semi write up on the H-1 D70 deal. Here is the link: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109482
