Wife's 77 Monza. "The Black Dragon" as she calls it.

Learned that whoever did the exhaust is weird....

True duals all the way back.

With a Y pipe under the trunk :haha:IMG_20260411_000156324_HDR.jpgIMG_20260411_000202902_HDR.jpg

Last 2 pics....

I stuck a vacuum cap backwards in the fuel line to plug it while it was unhooked.
And stuffed it on the T feeding the carb without pulling the cap out of the line :haha:

Whoops lol.

Just blame the wife for distracting you.

:haha:

I can't figure out the reason for the camber angle.
Top arms appear to be solid and non adjustable mounted.
Bottoms have the normal cammed bolts. Which appear to be set with the bottoms in as far as they can go.
But the tops still lean in a long ways  :dunno: IMG_20260411_103336116_HDR~2.jpg

Lol. This forker pulls wheels, Chrissie won't be driving it no more.

She did her first power brake burnout today.
We took the car for a quick spin. I drove out, she drove back.
And did a quick mild power brake up the hill from the shop.

You'd have thought she won the lottery :haha:
So damn happy and excited. It was great to watch:thumb:
I'm so proud.

Best part was... She did it on her own, her idea lol.
We stopped and I noticed she had her left foot on the brake.
I asked, "Why are you driving with 2 feet?"
She replied "Because I'm going to do a burnout. This is how you do it isn't it..?"
I was so happy I could have cried :haha:

I think the only vehicle of mine I don't drive w 2 feet is my late model Blazer.

As for the camber issue. The lower bushing mount may have elongated holes. Chevy II do this a lot.
You may have to make new cam guides with round holes and weld them on

Couple issues we've found.....

Turn signal mechanism in the column is messed up. Just kind of flops with no detents. But the turn signal does light up... Just not blink.

Shift linkage needs adjusted or something.
When you put it all the way forward, it goes into park, but easily just pops back into reverse.
Feels like it just barely falls short of clicking into park fully.. E brake seems to operate, but doesn't hold chit...

Pretty sure the trans mount is toast. It's a captured type, so it can't mess anything up, but I can push the tail housing up about 3/4" with a decent screwdriver/pry bar.

Switch the emergency flasher with turn flasher and see if lights blink. Bet the springs are broken. Replaced springs all the time. Ther is a left and a right spring for the TS switch

Probably never lol.
I'm not sure what to even do with it tire wise.

If we stay with 13", it gets the same size it's hot, because there isn't t much else.
If we go through a 5 lug swap, and go 15", we have more options, but can't go much wider than they already are do to the fenders.
Plus, there's also not a lot of options in that category either lol.
Not in our useable diameter range. :dunno:

I've seen about 5 ways to 5 lug it and all seem to suck.
The way I wanted to use, keeps this differential and you just have custom shafts made.
Then the only issue is the carrier.
Only found one stronger replacement for that.

Fronts easy.

I think you will not really benefit much.
It would be easier and cheaper to find aftermarket wheels in the size you want with the axle you have

Can't. They don't make them anymore.

It's a 4x4 pattern.
There's some circle track wheels you can get, but they're all 8 inches wide, and by the time I get tires thall actually fit those, I'll run into fender clearance issues.
With 5 lug, we can choose diameter, width, back spacing, etc.

I've looked at the s10 axle swap. But there are a lot of things that need done before we get into that type of project with it.
For now I need to locate the date code on the tires.
(Can't find one :dunno: ) And just replace them for now.
It'll be fine the way it is for a bit.
My monza was on a stock axle, with a clutch style posi. Had a 350hp 350, and I beat the snot out of it like a damn rally car lol.
This one should live with her driving and a very mild vortec 350.

I am however going to keep my eyes open for a throwaway, rusted out s10 around here I can pick up for a steal or something.
Then I'll have the whole package I need in one place.
Front spindles/brakes
Rear axle assembly
Power brake booster/master.

She's actually driving it to work today for the first time:waytogo:
She's so excited this morning, it was awesome to watch lol.
Kaz isn't far behind her. He loves it.
