ok i was reading my 4wheel n offroad mag. and guy wanted to put a cummins 4bt diesel motor in his samuri....they said NO. it is as "heavy as a big block and has gobs of torque". so i thought.. what about swapping it ( 86 k5) with my 305sb chevy. gobs of torque!!?? 4 cyldr economy?? advance adapters makes part to bolt up to my 700r4? just a thought. stupid? or a little merit? thnx lata.:waytogo:

ive seen 4 or 5 build threads on this here already.it is feasable, but takes a lota work.everyone that has done it is very happy about how it turns out.

ive been keeping my eye out for one from a frito lay truck, chevy bolt pattern (and accesories i assume) and a th400 trans bolted to it from the factory.

another cool swap is the 4-53T detroit diesel. The 4BT unquestionably will make more power, but the DD is alot cooler in my opinion. Should still yeild plenty of power (170/405 if memory serves), and get mid 20's fuel economy in our trucks.

I would not put a 700r4 behind it. You'll need a th400 strength. 4l80e is a good one.

Yeah the general consensus is that the 700r4 just doesn't have the gonads to live with the torque that the 4BT makes at such a low RPM. Get yourself on over to 4BT swaps and search through the stickies and build threads. There is a wealth of information over there.
