HI ALL. I HAVE A 1978 1/2 TON 4X4 CHEVY PICKUP THAT HAS ROTTED OUT REAR SHACKLES. CAN I USE THE REAR LEAF SHACKLES(FRONT ONLY)FROM A 1979 3/4 TON 2WD IN IT'S PLACE?

You're talking about the rivoted, rigid mount on the front end of the rear spring, right? If so, yes many people have used them on the rear of the rear spring to make a "homemade" shackle flip.

The thing to watch will be the bracket height. The 2wd hanger is shorter than a 4wd so you will need to be sure the end result will achieve the correct ride height for you.

Yes. My rear shackle front is rusted right through so I have to replace it and all I have is one from a 3/4 ton. I am going to replace the rear (rear) shackles with the ones from Off Road Design. Thanks for the info.

you mean the spring hangers? the shackles are only on the rear and are between the spring and the spring hanger.

the 2wd are two short to be used in a 4wd truck. even the 3/4 ton are too short.

where you at? my friend has some off a 77 shortbed we are scraping soon.

OOPS. My bad. I am new to the build a truck ideal. I am talking about the rear leaf spring but only the front hanger. I thought they were called shackles. If you do have a set that would be great. I live in Warren.

yea i do have some, they are kinda rusty but not rusted too bad. im north west of lansing near greenville. ill see if i can get them off. do you need them anytime soon? i need to fill the oxy/acl tanks

I had a front hanger for the rear leaf springs off of i think a 2wd and it was a lot different than the ones on my 3/4 ton so I had to buy one. I cant remember what kind of chevy it was off of but it wouldnt work. I bought a new one and it didnt really cost a lot.
