i can have it for free ,but if i need to do any welding [moving perches] then it just becomes a lawn orniment-Thanks for any info-Rob

Not sure about spring perch width, but why??? 14bff axles are free-$100 all day long...

You sir, need to hand over your man card...

free-- maybe where you live

if they were that abundant and free-I would already have one-around here 900 is the lowest price youll pay for 14ff set and that will be needing some seal kits and brakes---i wish i lived out your way!!!

14 bolts don't come in sets, that would most likely be the price for a 14 bolt rear and a Dana 60 front. Dana 60 front axles are worth big bucks, 14 bolts are dirt cheap. Don't waste your time and money tying to weasel that Ford junk in there.

If it's out of an 88 Ferd, it's a Sterling anyways. Make a road trip couple hours west in NYS, get one for a buck or two, drive home, install.

Sterling builds a good axle. I'd go as far as to say its in the same league as the 14 bolt. It'd be worth it for the cost of spring perches if it's a big sterling.

well anyways

they aint cheap in my neck of the woods-the only reason i even considered it is because of the price[free] and the ability to put my rims [8 lug chevys] on it-I dont have a welder[and havent ever ] and to have someone around here to do it is also pricey- so no one knows offhand if it fits?perches- axle lenght?

never have measured, but I am sure it is not a bolt in.

and there is nothing wrong with the sterling 10.25 and 10.5.

Also, I don't believe a Chevy 8 lug wheel will fit on there. The Ford has a bigger hub. You can put the Ford wheels on a Chevy axle, but you can't put the Chevy wheels on a Ford axle. I can't imagine a 14bff actually being that hard to come by.

stock chevy wheels wont fit the ford rear diff. I would sell the ford diff and buy the correct one for the burb.

that settles that!

i thought i read somewhere on here that all the 8 lug wheels would fit the big 3 up to a mid 90s---so now the new lesson:doah: I woudnt have even bothered you guys -cuz rims and rubber i have, just need the axle-and yes they are still pricey in Ma--14ff rear in good cond-3 to 4---at the junk yards and c list

aftermarket rims fit up to 98 fords. 99-up stupid duty got 8x170 .

aftermarket rims have bigger center hole.

Buddy of mine just bought a 99-00 3/4 ford truck and it has a 7 lug pattern. He is Mr. Ford and was excited with his new buy because he has several spare sets of tires and rims. Got home and popped the plastic hub cap off and damn if it wasn't 7 lug. That was a new one to the both of us.

Competely par for the course for Ford, they change their mind on how things should be done several times per year.

Chevy is super easy to deal with: small blocks/big blocks/LT1/LS1/4.8/5.3/6.0/8.1 (etc) all bolt up the same, basically anything from the 60's to current is interchangeable as far as engine/trans interchange are concerned.

Ford is completely the opposite, just about everything is specific to it's exact combo (small blocks don't even swap between small blocks that are a couple year newer).

The 7 lug thing only lasted a couple years IIRC but Ford was also the first to adopt the metric lug pattern rather than the 8"x6.5" pattern in '99 or so.

Ford's are a serious nightmare when it comes to changing anything.

Chevy's are ridiculously easy, you can almost do anything you want, the only hangup is transmission outputs/t-case inputs. Even then, parts are almost always available new.
