Will a 4x4 th350 work in this car?

My friend just blew the transmission in his 1978 impala. Its a 2wd th350. Will the 4x4 th350 from my 74 blazer work if we swap the tail shaft?

Yes, swap the output shaft and install his tail housing and he's good to go.

How difficult is it to do a full dissasmble? Does it require any special tools? How long should it take? Any info on doing this would be really helpful, tryin to help a friend save some money.

Not easy, yes you should have at least 2-3 special tools, first time around, all day long. To do the swap you'll need a full gasket set. its really NOT that much more expensive to just buy a full rebuild kit (mine was ~$100), and just do a full rebuild on his trans.

I also recommend buying a "how to rebuild your th350" type book. $10-15 VERY WELL SPENT.
