Will a diesel sending unit run a tbi truck?

my sending unit is done, but as i am swapping to diesel, i want to install a diesel sending unit, and run an inline pump.
will this work? I know the sending units intercange, but will the hoses all work? supply retoun vent ect?

truck now is an 88 stock tbi suburban.
