I have brand spanking new rebuild D44 to replace my well worn 10 bolt in the front. My question is, will the calipers bolt right in? I do have replacements for the D44 somewhere but due to limited time I would have to sling it in, it would be great not to deal with brake lines for now....:dunno:

The 10 bolt calipers will drop right in to the plates on the D44...the big difference between D44 calipers and the 10 bolt calipers is the D44 uses a 7/16" banjo bolt, and the 10 bolt uses a 10mm banjo. You should be good to go...

When I swapped in my D44 I had to cut off a small tab on my calipers and when I put new calipers on I had to do the same thing.

Yeah, the little cast bump on the back side of the caliper.....1/2 hour work and they are on. I do have another issue though. My spare wheels, which are those aluminum 15" with 31 tires won't fit over caliper/shield. They hit the steel shield plate right next to caliper.....they did fit on the old 10 bolt. Is the D44 brake/hub assembly bigger than 10 bolt?

The D44 and 10 bolt use the same caliper brackets and hub/rotor assemblies UNLESS it's an 8 lug then the caliper brackets and rotors are larger in diameter on both axles.

That's what I was thinking too but it is 6 bolt D44 and calipers are the same ones I had on 10 bolt axle....it suck because now I cant put my winter spares on :(

Here's a thought, someone might have the 8 lug caliper brackets on the axle but with 6 lug rotors instead of the 8 lug rotors. This would work but the caliper bracket would move caliper further away from the centerline of the axle and that in turn would move the brake pads off the rotor at the outside edge by about 1/8" IIRC.

well....there is nothing that grinder and hammer wont fix, right? :D

It's on and another lesson learned....for 2 hour project, have a spare day to finish..... Lucky me that the storm will be here tomorrow and not today. Alignment tomorrow and will let them put ORD shackles on as well.....if the wont charge me for 3 hours of labor for that :zombie18:

Thanx for all of your opinions and help!!
