Yes, that makes it plenty slow. But like I said before, you will not be able to stop the truck as long as it's in gear. So when you're close, take it out of gear, put both feet on the brake pedal and stand up on it.You be fine 2 feet brakeing it . Just low/low and load and GO !

I agree, but having compound gearing will make it harder so he needs to disengageI'll just say that people are making a way bigger deal out of this than what it is. If the rest of the brake system is in decent shape there should be no issue stopping the vehicle at slow speed, you just obviously have to apply more force to the pedal. I learned to drive as a little kid in an old Toyota Land Cruiser with manual drum brakes....people use to modern power brakes where you just barely feather the pedal would freak out if they tried to drive it because you have to actually put some force in the brake pedal!
