Will I have problems....

running the TBI from my 90 Blazer, on the 350 from my 82? I plan on getting a stock intake from a TBI motor to use, and fix the holes. But will it run right? Will that cam in it cause problems?
 
If the cam is a stock one, or very mild, you should be ok. If it's got any sort of lope to it, you may end up with some issues.

In reality ANY engine change requires tuning to get the most out of it (Irrefutible, since the systems do not compensate for much other than cruise mixture) but if the changes are quite small, you tend not to notice. The only real way to know what is going on is to get into the tuning aspect, or take it to a dyno tuner.

As a for instance, I've got a fair number of mods that affect how the engine runs/makes power compared to the original engine, and in driving alone it seems pretty well matched. However, I'm really pushing my luck by not tuning it for WOT, which is controlled solely by preprogrammed values, which is where modified engines start to run lean.
 
I`m not sure if the cam has been changed, or what type is in there. Would swapping in one I know will work be a good idea?

Eh, I'm a bit up in the air on that one.

You've got a lot of variables thrown into the equation here with an unknown motor. What's the compression now? What kind of combustion chamber? Piston design?

If it were me, I suppose I'd just throw it in the truck as-is and see how it runs. Since it's not my motor, I'm afraid you might run lean at higher RPM's, and/or the TBI timing is wrong for however this motor is built, and you end up with excessive pinging at light throttle.

If the donor runs on 87 no problem as it is, donor and recipient engine sizes were the same, and the donor has no lope at idle, your chances are probably pretty good that it will run decent.

Well, as far as I know, it runs on regular pump gas. It`s a stock motor from a 82 C3500 dump, and doesn`t look to have had any work done to it.

If it's bone-stock, I would be willing to bet that motor runs good enough to leave as-is with injection. Those heavy duty motors were low compression, and that old the heads won't be anything special (like Vortecs) that change the timing requirements significantly.

I hate to be vague, but without exact engine specs, it is impossible to know for sure how the motor will handle injection.

For extreme cases ones like this http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163920&highlight=dyno are a pretty good illustration (if extreme) of what can happen if you mismatch the injection to the motor. At least this motor didn't come apart!
 
Got any suggestions for a cam I can use where I won`t have to get a new chip burnt up? Something TBI friendly....
