Running 315/75/16s tires on my stock '01 Silverado 2500. The torsion bars are cranked up about 8ish turns. These tires rub only at extreme full-lock. Trying to find replacement tires has been a challenge. Ran across some H2 rims & tires today, they are running a 315/70/17 combo. Tread is 85% or better, how much rub should I be expecting?

Well that is a full inch taller, so unless what rubs now is easily trimmed back 1/2"+, it's going to rub way worse.

I ran some Hummer take-offs on my 05' D-Max for a while. I had to cut the front of the inner fender up on both sides, and use a cutoff wheel to remove about 1/2" of the fender/cab at the back of the opening. I put a lot of miles on the truck with those mods with no issues. The parking brake cable was a minor issue as well.

In the end I took them off and stuck to a 285/70 16 tire since I didn't like the gearing change the Hummer takeoffs brought for Colorado Towing.

how are 315 75 r17s an inch taller than 315 75 r16s ? I don't think the back spacing will be much different, if any, than the stock 01 2500 wheels.

I think they be the same rub as the current skins on the truck.

You don't know how metric tire sizes work? 315 is not the diameter!

They are probably 315 70 and not 75. And just bet on them rubbing on the outside more than the inside of the tire. Bumper and fender typically.

Assuming PYO wheels vs h2 wheels

Yeah, the change in wheel is just as important as the change in tire size. H2's are 8.5" wide with 5 5/8" backspacing. PYOs are 6.5" with 5" backspacing, so the tire moves 5/8" further inboard. It will rub less on the fender and bumper, but more on the spring/tie rod or whatever is there.

Stock H2 tire (LT315/70R17) = 34.4/12.4R17
Proposed H2 tire (LT315/75R17) = 35.6/12.4R17 (does this size exist?)
Current tire (LT315/75R16) = 34.6/12.4R16

FYI your balljoints will live a shorter life with your torsion bars cranked up. They sell corrected upper control arms to fix the maxed out angles. A buddy of mine had issues burning through good quality Moog balljoints and had to do the control arm fix.

There are other factors too. Truck usage, maintenance and probably spring rates too.

My 2500 (non HD) ran 120k before I cranked the bars all the way up. It's now run an additional 120k since cranking the bars and it's still running the original ball joints. Still in good shape.

Is this what you’re wanting to do? My’09 with H2’s and 35-12.5-17’s. It does have a Cognito leveling kit with some minor trimming that was mentioned above. Only rubbage issue is on full lock left or right. No biggie. I’ve learned to adjust.
