If you fold the rear seat up and have nothing in the back, will a 14SF fit in the rear of a K5 with tires and wheels on it?

I JUST FIT A 12 BOLT BACK THERE.IT WAS KINDA TIGHT ,IF THERE THE SAME LENGTH YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBS ,BUT EVEN IF ITS ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES LONGER YOU MAY HAVE PROBS.I HAD MINE DIAGONAL.HOPE THIS HELPED

You'll probably have to have it hang out the back of the bed, with the gate down. I would take the wheels off of it before putting it in the back. And make sure it's tighed down reeeeal good! I've carried a 12 bolt on the tail gate before, but the 14 weighs a whole lot more. Not sure i'd try a 14 that way. Good luck
 
I fit a 14 bolt FF, a Dana 44, an NP205 mated to a SM 465, and 2 driveshafts in the back of mine with the tailgate closed. I did remove the rear seat though, big deal 3 bolts

With the rear seat removed and the tailgate closed, you have exactly (within 1-2 in. +/-) six feet of floor space. My rear seat has been gone from the first week I had the truck (July '92). I'm 6'-1" and I fit nicely in the back on cold weather campouts. (Redneck motor home! ) LOL!!!!

Hope you got some pipes for arms. I just put a front Dana 44 in a stock 4x4 suburban. Fitting it in the back was not a problem. My freind and I picked the thing up by ourselves with all the breaks and steering stuff on it. That mother was heavy. I hate to attemp to pick up a 14 bolt. espessialy into a lifted blazer. I also got a 12 bolt into the same truck with the springs on it. Imagine that. It was interisting. Good luck

They are heavy alright! When I was putting mine in, I had to pick up one end to line it up with the spring. Not fun! I think I remember reading that they weigh in the 550lb neighborhood. When loading or unloading from the back of the bed, an engine hoist becomes your best freind!
 
Heavy? Oh yeah!!! When I bought my 14 and 44 it got loaded into my 4" lifted Jimmy. The 44 was no real problem (2 guys) but the 14 required recruiting the guys neighbor! 534lbs.
Man I was stoked on the way home until I realized I had no-one to help me unload! 2 words, 'Engine hoist'!!!

<font color=blue>I carried a Dana 60 a few weeks ago in my truck, and it fit fine. Having an engine hoist is recomended for a 14 (we had a tree service crane and a forklift for mine, it was cake) since they are quite heavy. plus, having it on a set of wheels makes it easy to move around. Bring some good ratchet straps too, not the cheap ones.</font color=blue>
