I've been looking for a cheap set of 16 inch wheels, and keep seeing new take offs on craigslist from new model trucks, avs, tahoes, etc. Some are 16 inch, some 17 inch. Anyone know what the backspacing is on the newer chevy factory wheels and if they will work on the blazer?

Should have searched first!
Found an old thread that said backspacing on the new wheels is 5.5 inches. Don't think it will work.

Ive seen older trucks with the newer steel wheels on them and no spacers.

If you're talking 8 lug wheels then yes, it will work just fine. I have 2007 GMC 1 ton 16x6.5 steel wheels on Big Ugly without any issues. The factory 16" wheels had around 4.5-5" of backspacing and the 8 lug IFS trucks typically had around 5". Not enough to cause you troubles.
Many folks have also ran the 2500HD aluminum rims without any troubles either.

6 lug half ton stuff? Won't work.

So if they fit your d60/14, they should fit the dana 44/14 thats in my 78 right? Its got 16.5 steels on it now, i have a set of 16 steelies from a 2wd, but i love the newer 5 spoke forged wheels on the 2500hd's.

Yeup, my buddy has newer chrome steelies on his 87 3/4 ton. He has the new center caps with the emblem cut and the lockout fits right inside. Would look factory except the stick inside the fender too much.

so, question for you guys running the stock wheels...what tire size are you running? the wheels are 6.5" wide, right? I want to run 315x75x16s on a stock wheel. will i have a problem with that?

Might rub the drag link on the p-side. In fact, I'd bet it will. You can adjust it out or put a longer bolt in to fix the problem. You loose some of the right turn radius but it's only "trying to fit in economy parking at the mall" stuff that you loose.

Width wise it's not ideal but plenty of us on here have done it without any of the hysterically bad **** others have predicted.
