Will the rear axle from a 2wd 01 C1500 swap in a 99 Z71?

My friend destroyed the rear axle in his 99 Z71 and I am trying to locate an entirely new axle for him. I found one from a 01 C1500 2wd and am wondering if it will work? I know the new axle has 6 lugs and the brakes are the same, and the gears can be changed easy enough. Are the spring perches and shock mounts the same? Anything else I need to worry about? Thanks

Check the WMS width. I'm not sure on the 99+ trucks, but on the 88-98 1/2 ton trucks the 4x4 rear is about 3" wider than the 2wd rear because of the positive offset wheels used with the IFS 4x4.
