I'm trying to help a friend put some parts together to get a truck running. The ultimate goal is to put together a TH400/205 combo using good parts he has on hand.

Will this combo of parts work -

TH400 (from a CUCV w/208)
Tall 400/208 adapter
205 (round pattern w/ long input)

We're pretty sure the round pattern on the t-case side will work so the parts should bolt together BUT will the shaft engagement be correct?

BTW - we know there will be no provision for a t-case shifter, this is only temporary to make a truck driveable.

Yes, it's the later 85+ round pattern 205 so it has a long style 32 spline input.

TTT... nobody's done anything like this?

Don't know if it matters in YOUR case or not, but the 465 round pattern adapter is 3" longer than the figure 8 pattern one.

Pretty sure this was entirely so GM could run the same driveshaft whether auto or manual, so auto adapters probably same length. Make sense?

Yes, it does. In fact, TARussell and I were talking about the very same thing the other day. Pretty cool to discover neat little trivia type things like the adapter length. :thumb:
