I'm trying to get about a 1" lift in the front of my blazer. I have an extra set of leafs that i am thinking of sandwitching in the spring pack. currently i have 3 leafs, i'd end up with 4 leafs in front. I know that i would have to change the center pin. I thought about the ORD 1"addaleaf, but if i can get similar results with the extra leaf i'd only have to spend on the center pin and u-bolts. Any draw backs on doing this??

thanks,

ARQ.

as long as the center pin keeps the posiablity of spitting out the added leaf. Sould be oK, just re torque the Ubolts after a few mile to make sure.......

I did it to a 65 J-series Jeep pickup, and a FC 170 Jeep pickup I owned. The FC170, I did it to handle the extra weight of the small block Chevy I put in it. It worked out well for me. I Used a number eight center bolt, and if you are adding a long leaf you will have to modify your spring clamps. As far as the U-bolts, maybe they will be long to have a few threads showing after you tighten them. The only draw back might be the ride, but maybe not.

Another option you can consider is the 2" longer than stock shackled offered by http://www.hill4wheeldrive.com. I'm not sure of the part # but I think they cost around $69 plus you still have to supply your own bushings. The 2" shackles will actually only lift the front by about 1". I know you don't want to spend the money but it's only a suggestion. Just my 2 cents you can add to your bank.

I think i'm gonna go for it. I just got a get another spring clamp that will hold the extra leaf and the center pin.

thank you,

Dennis, I'm not sure that adding a leaf will get you 1" of lift. It will definitely make the Blazer ride more harshly.

Before I put the blocks in the back of my Blazer to get rid of the tail-low attitude, I spoke with a sring shop in Oakland that would re-arch my springs, and was going to have them do it, but I found the blocks for real cheap and didn't get the springs re-arched. Perhaps this would be the way to go if you don't like the ride quality that the added leaf gives you.
