I have a really good deal on some headman ceramic headers I have a 1982 blazer with airtubes. Will the truck pass without them? Im getting ready to do a full exhaust on the truck and was just wondering. I need to get it emissioned within the next week or so.

If your state doesn't do a visual, you could make it pass, it takes more work to get it clean enough without the AIR but it can be done.
Here in CA you have to have them because they do a visual inspection as well.

You can weld on a tab and hook the risers to that but it'll screw up the coating. But it is an option.

If you live in CA it will fail visual most headers are not CARB (clean air board) certified and to install a part that affects emissions has to be CARB certified and have a sticker under the hood. im guessing the person your buying them from dident know this either and thats the reason for the good deal.

My guess he's not in CA, since he calls it emissions, here it's more commonly known as SMOG.:D

And it's California Air Resources Board, C A R B.

Colorado. I think they do a visual but As long as my air pump is there i dont think it would be a problem. Or would it?!?!?!

There is a FEDERAL law about emission equipment tampering/removal. Will it pass an emissions test in your state/area, depends on how well the techs there do their job.

Right the federal law is that every vehicle must retain its factory emissions equipment. HOWEVER California is the only place Ive ever heard of failing on visual.

An AIR Pump/Tube era car with the AIR system deleted and a newer cat will smog cleaner than one with the AIR and old style cat.

In the eyes of morality updating the cat and removing the AIR really does no harm.

I am keeping the Catalytic converter, actually putting a new one on. I work at an Exhaust shop and all i have right now is my y-pipe. And i need emissions asap. But I cant justify keeping the stock manifolds. I guess all i can do is put it on and hope they don't notice. I will be keeping my cat and putting on a new one.
