Will's '77 K5

I got this Blazer about two years ago when I built a big ass shower for my cousin. When he asked what he could pay me and I said "nothing" he ended up giving me this rig. I started browsing the internet looking for any and all info about K5's and stumbled upon this cornucopia of knowledge that is CK5. Turns out your all really cool, funny and helpful so I paid my dues and joined on up.

So far it has been the best money spent on my Blazer.

The stats:
1977 K5
400 sbc
TH350
NP 203
Dana 44 front / 12 bolt rear
33x12.50 R15 Goodyear MTRs on Pro comp black steel wheels.

The body is in pretty good shape, only rust is on the roof and a bit on the tailgate.

This was the only part that really bothered me..:doah:

That's real nice right there.

There is no real interior to speak of and honestly I'm not to concerned with it. I think it is going to get a Line-x type of finish inside and possibly on the outside too. Even though I want to turn it into a crawler, it is more than likely going to be used for camping/exploring much more often.

The plan so far:

I bought a Rough Country 4" lift with rear block that is sitting on a shelf waiting to be put on. I bought the block because I do plan on switching to a shackle flip down the road and did not want to spend the money on extra springs.

Also just purchased a 1990 C10 for $100:eek1: that I am going to take the TBI 350 out of. Should be picking it up this weekend if all goes well. The truck was parked because my buddy at work was too lazy to fix a leaky hose or something dumb like that. Plus my brother in law need body panels off this truck so he is into it for $50. In all $50 for an engine with all smog equipment and wiring doesn't seem too bad. Even comes with brand new distributor.

Immediate plans are to pull said 350 and clean it up if needed and start the swap. Any useful information will be greatly appreciated as I am somewhat inexperienced at anything this involved. Planning on learning some fab skills along the way as well. I'm green and will probably be asking a lot of dumb questions but hey, that's why I joined this place.

I'm trying to line up parts for my tbi swap and was wondering about headers again. Long tube or Shorty? I'm thinking that I will leave the motor stock. My only requirement is an O2 sensor for the EPA gestapo.

Oh and is one style of flange better than any other?

You'll want the O2 sensor for yourself. Do you need headers? I would just run the manifolds that are on the engine.

Yeah, my bad about the O2 sensor. Forgot what it did. I probably don't "need" headers but I was anticipating them being the only power adder I would do, maybe a throttle body spacer if applicable. I honestly don't want big power because I'll more than likely break something.

Manifolds are much less of a pain in the ass. The shirt tube Edelbrock headers on my 1990 K5 are not bad as far as headers go. They were on the rig when I bought it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought them. The long tube Hedman's on my 1988 V10 Suburban are crap.
