I just purchased a cable, downloaded the winaldl software and I am only seeing the following data stream:
PROMIDA
PROMIDB
IAC
Constantly, and every 5-10 cycles?? I get CT, MPH, and MAP, nothing ever more than that. Also the dash feature is inactive. Zeros on the dash.

Any ideas?

Been a long time since I used WinALDL but sounds like you have wrong ECM chosen? Go to configuration and choose correct ECM, check com port by choosing one and waiting 5 seconds to see if it says OK. If it says OK Com 1 go to printers and devices and find cable, right click to see if it is same com port. These instructions are generic and change from OS to OS.

When you do get it working save some time when data logging and only choose Sensor data and error codes.

Thanks,
I downloaded TunerPro RT and will give it a try this morning. Something is up, this 89 should be a 7747 ecm, that is what I have the WINALDL set up for. I did have the usb cable set at port 8, which I changed to port 2 last night, also changed that in WINALDL.

Either way, I'll check it out again today.

The odd thing I found is that I had to put a resistor between A&B to get data flowing. Didn't think I should have to do that with the 7747.

Of course I am learning on the fly here, I could be totally off base.

No need for resister in this ECM as data flows all the time. Resister will put ECM in ALDL mode and you will not get correct data...

Thanks again. I'm headed back down to the garage in a few and give it another shot. Really interested in learing to read the data properly and then burn in the future as I make mod's / upgrades. I've been reading so much about it on the net the past month, my head hurts?haha

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes today.

I had the ECM correct, '7747 but found out this morning that when using the USB cable I needed to change the baud rate to 4800 instead of the 2400.

Got it now, just trying to dig through the numbers and break it all down, piece by piece to understand this all.

Thanks again for all the help.
