If you don't have a plate behind the factory bumper at all, then yes I would definitely add something like that.

thanks after the fiasco from all the steel places around here i think this will be easier to install and wont break the bank

It would be nice if you could add some gussets in the outside corners too.

I always hang on to triangle pieces of drop for just that reason.

Came in today will install tomorrow morning and post pics
It is powder coated but not very good
I banged it test fitting it and it chipped

I Had to bend he ears on it because I had no way to unbend the 45 in the 1/4 inch steel
then when i put it under i had to notch it to sit flat against the steel and there is enough room to drill and tap a hole to make it removable if need be

then had to clearance the bumper to get it to clear better the cable would have tore itself to peices oin the braket so i added the hawse fairlead on the inside to keep it from killing itself

so it will work I am going to drill two holes and add 2 : 5/16 bolts to make it removable
witch will be super nice

If your running the wire rope you should have the rolling fairlead ,the wire rope will cut up the steel you got and flatten the wire rope, the more off center
The pull is the more it will put on the wire rope

have the roller on the outside of the bumper put Hawse fairlead thats made for steel cable on the inside to keep off bracket its made by warn

By the time all is said and done, you'll be fabing yourself a whole new bumper. My winch is mounted on a 1/4" plate that is welded to a pair of 1/4" thick 3" angles and bolted to the frame with 1/2" gade 8 bolts. I bought the truck with it so I don't know who built it, but it does not move. Yes, it weighs a bit, I guess that's why the bumper fascia is 3/16" Aluminum.

Na just adding support to the bumper so it doesn't distort so much when wenching

Got the bolts in and roller back on the outside bumper feels not as flimsy now which is a good thing
