I have a line on a new ramsey rph 8000 hydro winch ( not p/s hydro ) for a good deal . brand new never used . http://www.ramsey.com/content/documents/manuals/t-manuals/912457-0404-h.pdf

I also have avalible a pto for a 205 tcase and the hydro pump from a old dump truck setup .

if the pump is up to the gal/min rating would this be a good setup ?

I know I use about the same setup on my roll back tow truck at work and do just fine . but that's just on/off/light recovery stuff.

whats your info on this ? thanks . :pimp:

Very good setup if I pump is up to the task. Hydraulic beats electric any day.

looks like i need 2500 psi and 15 gal/min flow . just got to get my hands on the pto/pump to check for rpm speed ratio / flow of pump .

Well, you have seen the pics of my rig. I did a lot of things wrong, and it has still pulled me out of everything I ever got into and everybody else I ever hooked it to.
When I bought the winch from Sam Wyner motors, I asked what were the max specs needed. I told them to assume maximum load and duty cycle.
They said I needed 20gpm@2500psi.
Plus, for continuous duty, I needed a gal of fluid in the tank for every gpm for cooling purposes unless I ran a cooler.

I called a hydraulics supply house, and told them I needed a PTO and pump for a 205, hooked to a C6 transmission. I wanted the 20gpm@2500 at about 1500 rpm on the motor.
They sent me a fairly large pump. When I hooked it all up, the winch behaved strangely. Seemed to be starving for fluid. Turned out that large spin on filter Wyner sent with the winch was a return line filter, not a suction like I thought.

You need a coarse screen on the suction, with the finer filter on the return. Since had already built and plumbed the tank and system, I bypassed the filter, and have been running the system for about 26 years with no filters.

Not good.

But, I have a large tank, and change the oil regularly, so I have gotten by with it so far.

I think you will like the setup. My only regret is the difference between it and my old truck with the shaft driven winch off the PTO. With it, if I were pulling someone out, when I got them mostly out I could put the transfer case back in gear, put the transmission in reverse, and back the truck up to pull them out quicker.
Of course the winch turned backwards when I was doing that, but it was so much slower than the tires, it made no difference.
With this system, I have to disengage the PTO, or I will spin the pump in reverse, and it is supposedly bad for the pump.

Bear in mind, my winch is a lot bigger than the one you are looking at, so you fluid requirements are different. Also, the planetary system is faster than the worm drive of mine.
You will like that.

well I said screw it and went and got it . if anything flip and resell if I cant use it in the end .

plan is to mount it in the back custom bumper I am building for this truck .

so my good buddy droped off his old chelsa/parker pto for a 205 . its a 1 to 1 unit drive .

also come with a pump on it . has reman tag but company has no record of it since 06 new computer system install. but said it was sold or remaned in 02 .

so digging with them and sent pics and measurements they got me this back .

commercial p20 pump with 1" ports by directional gear type pump . has 1" gear body/set inside .

rated for
2500 psi working pressure
8.5 gpm @ 1000rpm
10 gpm @ 1200 rpm
13 gpm @ 1500 rpm

so this will work the winch almost to designed specs/max level of 2500 psi and 15 gpm .
