Hello,
I recently inherited an older Mile marker winch from a bumper swap. I would like assistance with identifying the model or any other pertinent info. Specifically, what is the line pull rating and is it a series wound motor or permanent magnet motor ?
The PO did not know much about it, so that was a dead end as he was not the original owner. Before I obtained the bumper and winch, I did briefly test it out and the winch seems to work just fine.
This is what I do know: It has a 3/8" wire cable. The control box uses a 3 prong connector. It is a 12Vdc. The exterior is well weathered which has erased all identification except for the letters "Mile Marker".
Based on my limited winching experience, it appears to be in a 8,000 to 12,000 lb class winch. It's certainly no ATV winch.
I would like to replace the control box as this one is beat up even though it is still functional. My research has discovered that when I replace the control box, it matters if the winch has a series wound motor vs permanant magnet, hence my question above.
I am going to call Mile Marker for asistance of course, but I wanted to check with the excellent knowledge base on this forum first.
I already have a brand new Warn 12k winch on my K5. I'm figuring this will be either a good trailer winch or I can throw it on my F250 (which is not a heavy off-roading vehicle...just a work truck) if the line rating is sufficient. I am looking for identification help...not hoping to start another debate on the merits of US made winches vs cheap imports, etc.
Many thanks in advance !
I am attaching some photos.
