does anyone have a winch in the bed of thier pickup? ive been thinking about putting one under the toolbox in the back of my tow rig. i thought about putting one on my trailer, but i tow a few different trailers. plus it would be nice to use it for more than just dragging a car or truck onto the trailer. i figured i would mount it in the bed, all the way towards the cab, and just drop the tailgate, and pull the cable out. what do you all think? does anyone have a picture of this? my toolbox sits real low, so i am planning on making a notch in it, to cover the winch.

it would tear your tailgate up and taking your 'gate off everytime would be a pita. Ive torn up beds and 'gates pulling off a gooseneck ball with the 'gate on. Ive had a winch mounted on the front of a flatbed and it was not very handy for me, mainly because the truck always has a trailer on it. the only way I could see it working would be to make some sort off fairlead at the end of the bed. just get a multimount type setup for your winch, weld a receiver to your trailers so you can transfer it to different trailers. you could also put this on the front or back of your truck or other trucks using receiver mounts on the front or back. you can buy these kits from almost any trailer supply company. hope this helps.

Not in the bed, but under it, works ok, if you're slick you can mount the roller fairlead in the bumper.
