There has to be more to this story...

i did find me some leather gloves at walmart i will be using for my cable. they are nice heavy pair water resistant leather gloves paid 12.95 for them in store online they want 19

I just get in the habit of leaving those with the controller. They cohabitate happily in the glove box

ya i have a cubby hole in the center console that i use for that and the bag that has the controller has the gloves in it.
that cable left a silver residue all over those gloves.

Got it.

Not a Hi-jack

I'm brainstorming different ways to frame mount my 10k. This one looks super clean.

My winch is 6.5" tall feet down or feet forward and the clearance from the bottom of my frame rails to the bottom of the the core support.

I see the truck in this thread has what looks to be a 2" or 3" body lift which gives enough clearance.

I plan on using 1" body lift pucks and new poly mounts so my winch should clear just fine.

Just thinking here.

there actually 1 and 1/2 inch lift, previous owner custom job.
all i did id measure the height of the winch then measure your space. if you need to yo can weld the plate to the bottom of the frame rails to get extra clearance. there is another member here that mounted his upside down. let me see if i can find his thread for ya. its where i got the idea

pics when you do please
I'll try to remember to post them up here.

I took a lot of measurements and I would need a piece of 8"x6" angle iron... only thing I can find with those dimensions is 1/2" thick and I'm not messing with that.

I'll probably end up doing something similar to what was done in this thread minus using the stock bumper.

I just did the same thing. I flipped my ramsey winch upside down so he cable spools off the top of the drum. That allowed for the fairlead to be about 2-3" higher on the bumper. Just covers the license plate bolt holes. I also got rid of the integral solenoid that my winch had and mounted a Albright style contactor under the hood near the drivers side battery tray. Used a hole saw to mount the remote plug right in the top of the bumper. I also made an extended rod so the clutch release could be operated easily.
