Winch Mount

It would not be hanging down going dow the road. It stays in the upright position unless need to fold down the tailgate.

About the bolt shearing. I have been pondering that as well since I posted the pics. I thought about making a hitch type block coming out of upper bumper and making a 1/2 inch thick bracket on the winch box to fold over into to use a hitch pin. Basically having a hitch connection fot the top.

For the bottom instead of bolts I weld a 1 inch steel rod in the back bottom corner of the box and use the 1/2 in brackets as a pivot point.

Huh?

It looks like your going to build a new bumper? If so why not build the bumper out a little and down from frame rail to frame rail so its tappered to from 6" to 10.5" to allow for the mounting of the winch between and behind bumper. You could even Hide the cable with a fold down license plate holder it should be right on top of the reciever hitch to make good pulling onto a trailer. Do you have the dia. of the winch and what area you have to work with?

Here is a stupid question. Can the winch be mounted laying down with the bolts pointed out and be pulled straight out of the bottom?

That is how some manuf recommend mounting them others dont
