Scored a REP 8000 winch so playing with its mounting. Clears the rad support by about a 1/4". The 12,5 t-max will require notching of the rad support though when I get one. Then this one will turn into a multi mount setup for the rear, tow rig, trailer.

Just be sure to mount it per the manufacturers instructions......

Unlike my buddy Nate (barbastard) in this video

He sheared every mounting bolt. Should have mounted it with the feet facing forward instead of down, those 15K winches create a lot of force!!! :yikes:

according to the ramsey website it says to mount feet down and that is also how it was mounted on the trailer I got it off of.

So does my Warn 9.5K.

I looked into/wanted to mount it feet forward but figured I best follow the destruction's. :dunno:

I have my M8000 mounted feet fwd, not a problem. On the warns, you take out all of the screws that hold the gear selector plate and gently lift up about 1/4" rotate to desired position and reinstall the bolts. Mine has been this was for 4 years now without incident.

Damn!

In 30 years of offroading I have never seen something like that. I have also never seen anyone mount a winch any other way but feet down.

from what I understand most with built in selinoids (technical name escapes me right no) are feet down and most with a seperate box are feet forward but the ramsey website shows this one feet down and the one I will get to replace it (t-max 12,5) are both feet down and same 10x4.5" mounting so should basically be a bolt on swap, except having to trim the rad support for that bigger winch.

I'm going back and forth aboot getting a 9000lb. removable winch.

What do you think?

removeable are nice, 2 friends run 12,5s on multi mounts (serious, serious mounts, winch and mount weighs 189 lbs) and they have receivers in the front and in the bed. My thought is on a trail I want to make forward progress and having it on a receiver in the front kills approach angle. When I get my 12,5 winch I'll make this into a multi though for rear use, trailer, use, etc because it is handy

Greg, who was the laughing chick in the video?

Got any pics of her to put in the Pig Pen? :D

did it just shear the bolts or break any of the housing? A frined m8000 broke a leg off. It was mounted correctly but the cable got wound up on one side and pushed it away from the mount along with bent the tubes that hold the 2 winch halves together. I built him a collar that went around that side and had a mounting foot and is still working today.

That is RedChevyGirl on the NorCal site.....

Don't think she's the type for doing PigPen photos but I'll let you ask her directly.

Never hurts to ask. Afterall, you never know what you can get by doing so.
