Winch problem...

I went out and checked to see if it was jammed or something with the cable...but it looks how it always has.
I tried to see if it would go out with the remote, and it just made the noise again...I tried again in the other direction and it killed the battery.
the battery is on the charger right now... so I am thinking something is broken...
any ideas?

just start disassembling it. You'll find something broken eventually.

LOL alright I guess I'll start disassembling it.
Is there a picture online that shows the parts breakdown so I know how to put it back together?
How much would it way with the cable on? Without the cable on?
Thanks

If it was me I'd hook the cable to something solid and with it in freespool mode just back up gently. You may be able to unjam it. But then again you may damage something else. I don't know the internal operations of it but I'm daring and I'd just give it a little friendly persuasion.

well from reading the link tj found ( nice going0 it seems the cluch for freespool/ drive is messed up , they quoted rust being A culprit.

that link will help you steve the bottom even has links to warns exploded pics

I had a link to the warn guide on it, lemme look around for it.

Woah! I never new there was so much info on these winches. Aren't the 8074's the ones everyone is running for a really fast winch?
I'll check that link out, thanks!

For freespool you have to pull out the knob or handle on the left side of the drum. I think it may click when at the right point. This should let you pull the line out by hand. You also might check the oil in it while you are in there.

aah! are you serious? There has been so many times when my dad or I had to hold the "out" button to make the line go out, when the other person went to attach it to a tree or something.
I'll check to make sure I have one! Thats AWESOME if I do!
Thanks

Well, I took it out of the bumper. What hell that was, took me almost 2.5 hours!!
It's sitting on the bench in the shop now...it's a heavy turd! pics to come...

ahhhh! we have a problem...the winch is actually a 8074  there was a little piece of the tag faded so I thought it was a 2. are they the same?
