Winch Rope Upgrade

i like the 3" wide straps with the ends folded to 2" . they slip in a 2" receiver hitch and the pin goes in like a hitch's . then this gets you the least amount of death metal to come flying at you if something happens .

1st thing if your winch can hold 3/8"x 125' of wire rope it would hold 3/8"x 125'of synthetic-rope,if the rope a hollow-bread then you should fit more.
2nd we would only sell tow straps, used to tow a truck by a truck, not a recovery strap, people just misused them

A nylon strap has a breaking strength of 8000lbs per in so a 3"2 ply the bs is about 48,ooolbs, a truck weighing 6000lbs going 20mph would have a force of 120,000 lbs and that why they break.

That's what I do

Thinking about replacing the steel cable with some winch rope.

This doesn't appear to be a bad deal. Anyone else have some better sources? Should I be looking at more than 95 feet? Current winch is a Warn 9000lb. I need to get the exact model.

I have the Trail Gear version of this "Duraline Exoshield". It's not cheap, but I bought it when Jegs had a hell of a sale for it. https://trail-gear.com/catalog/prod...y/1/id/7158/s/duraline-exoshield-winch-lines/

I spent 24hrs on Spring Creek in a snow storm and the only thing that got us thru was winches. On the last pull of the night my synthetic line broke because it got against a tree trunk and I didn't have enough of the abrasion sleeve to cover all the rubbing points. I thought I would just go back to the steel line so I didn't have to worry about abrasion so much, but I hated dealing with that stuff even to just spool it on the winch.

I saw a blurb about the Duraline Exoshield on the Xtreme Offroad show and decided to check it out. I think I've had it over 2 years now and I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I messed up was getting 100' when I should have gotten 75'. The problem is the Exoshield makes the line thicker than steel and it gets too thick on the drum in the usual course of winching and you always end up with the line bunching up on one end of the drum.

I plan to pull mine off and cut it down about 15'.
