Yes this thread is all over the place. I'm not talking habor freight winch here, just generic summit ones. Warn is the best, buy is also expensive.

How is http://store.summitracing.com/defau...=MMK-76-50040C&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch

But is the summit banded one any good?

no milemarker don't do it JUNK

i have no exp with superwinch so can't tell you the first link was milemarker tho

they break really easy save up for a warn or a ramsey

and that summit one is a milemarker

also it seems as tho there is another nock off brand milemarker they are all from china ,and junk cant think of the name now tho

do a search on here for milemarker there is a recent thread

Out of the 4 you have listed. The Ramsey is the only one made in the US and the only one that has a lifetime warranty. Mile Marker is made by the same China factory that makes the Harbor Freight winch.

And the summit winch is made by this Chinese Manufacturer.

Check out Sam's Offroad they have the same price on the Ramsey 8.5e as Summit, but include free shipping.

Think they are called T-max.

Milemarkers and T-max's along with Harbour Freight winches if used frequently and for long pulls will poop out on you when you need it most. IMO

is 8500 really enough? I plan more on pulling other people out than myself, although both might happen.

Ramsey's 8500 is likely equivalent to the others 12000.

I have a Ramsey 9500 on mine and it's pulled me out of quite of few MAJOR messes!

Like this one, where I had 1/8 tank of gas on level ground and zero at this angle. My motor died so I pulled the rope and used a tree save on an 8" pine tree.

The tree saver didn't save the tree. The poor pine tree broke at the base at ground level before it pulled me over this 4' ledge.

I used a oak tree next and it didn't break and my winch alone pulled me over this ledge. NO motor at all.

Just get a snatch block with the Ramsey 8500. I dont have the link but theres a couple websights on proper winching techniques. You dont need a 12000 or 15000 pound winch. Unless you have a 4 door duallie p/u with a diesel.
