86 GMC K10 305/700r4/208 4in lift 33's in process
3/4ton axle swap, needing front dana 60 allready
have rear dana 60 from 1 gen

DD 2000 GMC Sierra Z71 stock for now

Well warn is the best, but the most expensive. Ramsey seems to be a pretty good winch but not as good as warn. Stay away from milemarker electric winches, they are chinese c**p.
I don't know much about milemarker hydraulic winches except that they are slow but will pull forever.
If you dont want to spend a whole lot, the t-max winches are a good bargain winch.

X 2 :D

Or buy a used 8274
man I'd love to have one of those. My old boss gave one to a friend of his. That was about the time I got my first 4x4. I didnt even realize what a 8274 was!!!!!

Warns a great winch, and fast. I have an old ramsey 8k rep worm. they are much slower, but never stall. Any of the two brands that a guy can find in good used for cheap is the best winch!

Yea...and then just have a tape of that song

"Wiggle it...just a little bit"

ready to play whenever you need to winch :haha:

Yeah, I'll have that fixed by next trip (the 25 year old controller/connection was a bit of an issue).

In the winch's defense, it pulled real hard for a long time and never gave up (despite the connection having to be wiggled every once and a while) :smirk:

Watch your local craigslist, I see them on mine all the time, but they are sold almost as fast as they are listed. Average price I see for good working used ones is around $400

Another good question to ask is if a 9000# winch is enough or would a 12000# model be better for a big blazer with a lift and tires around 38's. I would like to know and im sure you would to:)

thanks for all the info guys, its going to help alot
blitzk5 im with you on that i think a 12000# would be better

I'm going to get T-Max 12500 up front, and for the rear ABT 10000. ABT is some chinese winch, but with a little maintenance it's ok winch.

I can't say that having a 12000 wouldn't be a bad idea, but I can say that an 8274 even though it is only rated for 8000 is an extremely strong winch. My dad ran his for years on his 74 Furd F250 High Boy, and that thing pulled better and stalled less than the 16.5ti that he runs on his 04 Dodge now. There is nothing that compares to the 8274 for sheer strength and reliability.
