Are there any upgrades for my wiper motor for my 1986 K5? I have the delayed setup.

Short story is no... They say the 91 is better, but if you look up the part it will give you the same one for an 86

What type of troubles are you having?
I was lazy one winter morning and tried to run the wipers under a snow covered windshield.
Smoked the motor.
Symptoms Included erratic wiping action on the delay settings, ran on the high setting, random park functionality.
Got a new motor from NAPA and been golden ever since.

They are weak. Just lame. The motor is weak and I have not even tried snow. Ha and probably never will.

Some one suggested taking the transmission assembly out and lubing the pivots. So I did that on mine. It made a big difference, but even with doing that, and a new motor, they still suck. Lol...
I'm sure theres one in a bone years on an as yet to be found car that's a bolt in and better.... But how to find it :dunno:

Unfortunately you can't fold the wipers off the windshield on squares like newer trucks.
When we get 3 ft of snow over night, I understand there is no way that puny motor can deal with it and scooping the snow off is neccesary.
But even a few inches of snow bogs the motor so badly it fries.
Of course, at minus 20 with a 6.2 diesel, I am not in a hurry anyways.
