My window pops and sounds terrible. It will pop and sound like its stripped when the window gets about 6-8" down then wont go lower but will keep popping or when it rolls all the way up.

How do I know if the motor is the issue or the regulator? Does the motor have plastic teeth that would maybe strip? I cant see the teeth on the window regulator that are in the problem area. The rollers on the window look good. Dried, but no cracks.

Any special precations to take when pulling the assy. out? I know there is a spring, it wont snap and try to take off my fingers will it?

I found this article, its kind of helpful, but not really. http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/interior/winmotor.htm

Do I use thick wheel grease or white lithium grease to lube everything?

Sounds like the motor to me.

Haven't watched it in a while, I think this video touches on the motor/regulator. It's actually about replacing weather stripping, but maybe you'll get some visual aid on doing it yourself.

It's not hard, it IS a PITA, if you can see that as different :haha: Main thing is the learning curve on how to get the damned thing out- as in physically removing the assembly from the door. Don't worry about the spring, I've read those horror stories on random forums. That's not even an issue really. You can fit a 1/4 ratchet and extensions through the door to take the motor off, I'd fear the sharp metal from the door itself more lol. I don't think you'll know your answer about if it's the motor or regulator until you have it all the way out and taken apart.

Any grease will do, I'd of preferred white lithium, but didn't have any, I used red synthetic wheel bearing grease cause it's what I had. The main thing is removing the old grease which is like sludge, and then all the dirt and rust.

Cool, thanks for all the insight.

Have any tips or tricks on how to get the stupid thing to compress enough to fit out of the door?
