I've noticed a few times in the Jimmy that when I go to put on the windsheild washer it won't work. It will only go on low if I move the swtich thing around a bit. And "high" doesn't even work. What is wrong? Lose wires?

What do you do to make it come back? It just randomly does? My 84 used to have a problem where it wouldn't start in low, so I had to turn to High then back to Low to get it to go.

the switch or the thing that makes it delay is gone mine dose the same thing have to twist it on and off, pita,

i was tolt swich

this is what happens...
I go and sit in the seat, and twist the little switch into "low"...nothing happens. I wiggle it a bit each way until I can find it, then it works. When I go to pull it down into "high" it doesn't move at all.
So I need a new switch? How hard is that to replace?

My "delay wipers" dont work right too!

My 79 C10 "Bonanza" has delay wipers, and they only work on low or high, the delay setting only works when it feels like it!--I was told they had lots of of problems with the "black box" or "brain" that controls it--could be the switch too--I looked in every truck in the junkyards, only 1 had the same setup, and someone already robbed the brain box..:frown1: --if I get aggravated enough I'll put in my other "non delay" style motor and switch from my 74 k20,which is now being cannibalized for parts before the crusher gets it---with my luck the wiring harness will probably be completely different or something!!:surepal: so as long as they still wipe,I'm not touching it!!...

Last year I tried to find a factory delay setup for the truck. In all the junk yards I could not find a single brain box. That was enough to keep me away from the factory delay. I found an aftermarket kit to work.

By the way, I vote switch.

My old '82 K-10 Silverado had a really strange quirk. Unless you pulled the fuse the wipers would make one pass every hour or so. Had many, many people tell me I left my ignition/wipers on.

Dontoe, that is definitly weird!! I would suppose it got annoying quick?

You can eliminate the brain box by unpluging it and putting the two plugs together (I did it on my 85 1/2 ton)

This will just leave a dead spot in the switch where the delay portion is but it still works for running them

Steve , it sounds like a bad switch or broken wires to the switch

Thanks!!

Thats what I'm gonna do if it starts acting goofy again!--I might be selling the 79 C10 anyway-...thanks for the info!.
