Need a few tips on installing my windshield, did fully convertible conversion, I dry fitted the windshield it fit perfect, but now I'm ready to install it permanently but not quite sure what type of adhesive to use. Any information or other tricks you seasoned veterans might have would be greatly appreciated.

Get some soapy water in a spray bottle, and a windshield stick (plastic stick). Take your time to work it in. I find it's easier for me to put the gasket into the frame first, then work the windshield in. If you're having trouble with a certain spot, move to another area. You may need to slap the glass down into the channel as you move around it.

You don't want to use a screwdriver to pry it in, it's real easy to crack the glass from the edge with one.

I haven't ever needed any sealant on any of the windows I've done. I suppose a black silicone would work fine. If you can find it in a caulking gun...might make it easier to get it under the rubber.

I set the window in place without any type of silicone, are you saying that this would be all i need to do? I would hate to hit a something and have it fly out.

When I had Saflite replace mine a few weeks ago, they put a small bead of black silicone around the metal frame, then put the gasket in, then seated the window, then finally threaded the lock strip into place. With a new gasket it took nearly an hour for it to be done, since the gasket took a lot of work to get it seated onto the steel frame. The original gasket also had the silicone around it to help prevent leaks, as well as hold the gasket in place.

Going through windshield installation right now. Half the people I talk to say our style goes in dry but mine sure didnt. I used used glass and gasket from a parts truck. By the time I painted the frame and was ready to install it was 10:50 PM. The 3M 08690?? was dried up and no good. Installed dry and had horrible leaks. Went to store next day and exchanged the urethane for newer. Apparently it was on the way south 'cause it broke my good caulk gun 1/4 way through the job. Spread the rest with my finger and it still leaks. It only took about an hour or a little more from the time I started to the time I had the lock strip in, but the black urethane was already cured and wouldnt "smush" with the lock strip.

I need a slower curing windshield sealer and maybe a new gasket also

I am fairly sure, based on the condition of the gasket when I pulled it out, that mine was in there since the late 80's to early 90's, possibly original. And it definitely had black silicone around the frame holding the gasket in, and he installed with fresh silicone.
