88 gmc jimmy it was raining this morning and my wipers got stuck in up position I twist it off and on and they went back down but I went to twist it on again and the whole lever twisted all the way around it pulled right out and I pushed it back in but now my wipers don’t work. Still have blinkers and whatnot. Did I accidentally break the lever? Not sure where to start on this one.

Ok so it appears I just stripped the blinker lever. I can turn them off and on with needle nose pliers. I ordered new lever will be here tomorrow then I have to fish that wire down the column and hopefully not have to pull the steering wheel

I am surprised that you stripped the shaft to lever connection. I was going to guess that you merely pulled it out to the point that it wasn't engaging the switch.

You apparently have cruise control, that's the wire harness coming out of the lever. Good luck with fishing it out and back in. I haven't tried it, I just take the column apart which takes a far bit of time.
:doah:

It can be done, I haven't done it in years. But was common to do when cruise switch in lever failed.

I gave up fishing new wire through column and just went to right below the tilt and drilled a hole and ran the cable through there, so you can see about 4 inches of cable but it looks clean enough for me it ain’t a show truck anyways
