Hey Guys, having a hard time with my 1991 GMC Jimmy windshield wipers. They function for about 20 minutes, then stop. I have replaced the motor, there is no binding in the wiper motion, and nothing gets hot. This new motor seems to be too weak and I can help it so it moves the wipers. Seems like only 1 speed is operating. Would that be the switch as a problem? And I am looking for a better motor than this China junk, any suggestions?

What was the reason you replaced the original? Was it not working or working hard?

They really don't work very well unless the windshield is wet. I think the weak motor is why many choose to run the short factory length blades instead of the longer ones that do fit. You should be able to plug in the old motor (loose piece, not reinstalled) and see if it has 2 speeds.

Somebody went down the path of putting a relay on the wipers, but you'd have to search to see how that worked out. Likewise with the efforts to adapt GMT400 motors.
