Has anyone ever removed a windshield in a k5 or the like? I gotta take mine out to do some rust repair and am unsure of the process. And i assume i should replace the weatherstripping on the way back together, so wheres the best place to get that...i know lmc has it but just wondering if there is anywhere better.

lots of threads on this subject.

search side glass / winshield / gasket / strip / removal . along these lines. and even some will have tool info needed to make install much faster.

i have posted up before with good tips .

On mine I just had to tug out the center bead on mine (some are chrome colored some are black) and then delicately pry it out...I broke my windshield....right at the point where I had 90% of it out....

I am not complaining because it had a lot of scratches and those windshields are some of the cheapest on the market....I think mine will be $150 installed and that's including the weatherstrip....

Since we are here already... My blazer (and idk what years all had this, seems like alot) has the antenna made into the windsheild. Do replacement windsheilds have this?

You have to specify...they come with and without....mine has the built in antennae

Ok gotcha. Yah i just didnt know if replacement ones would have it or not. When i paint my blazer ill be fixing some rust om the a pillars and im sure i will break mine. I just really like the built in antenna. I get better radio in the blazer with that, then with any vehicle ive ever owned....

yeah...with the antennae it's closer to $200

I hadn't thought about that when I got the first quote

Mine was cracked and stayed together. Removed the lock bead and cut the seal around the windshield (was hard like rock after 30 some years).

When it was time to go in with a new windshield I had it installed. They came to the house, windshield with antenna and new seal.

Not worth taking a chance on breaking it.

i removed 2 last weekend actually since i to was replacing the weather stripping, from the inside of the cab i just took a razor and cut the inside of the weatherstripping right where the channel is ( i did a small test piece to see exactly where) and the glass came right out no problems

I have removed a couple to either replace with a better one or ti install a cnie clean tint visor strip along the top. If you're going to replace the gasket, cut it on the outside, as flat on the glass as possible, then you just push the glass out.

Install the new rubber gasket to the frame, drop the glass in the bottom and work the rubber seal out around the glass as it falls into place, using dish soap and water helps out a ton as well.
