I see in one of the articles that the large fan is supposed to have high speed as indicated by three wires. I acquired some Windstar fans, however the large fan only has two wires not three. The connector has been blanked out (factory?) but 'could' have a third wire.

My question is, are all the fan motors themselves the same? That is, if I was to add a third wire will I get a high speed? Does anyone have a part number for the large motor itself?

Any help would be appreciated I'd like to install this right the first time, hopefully tomorrow!

I just bought a windstar fan too, outa a 95. Ill let you know if I have 2 or 3 wires on the big fan tonight. Im just going to wire mine in on high if I do though. I'm planning on the big fan wired in with a thermostat on high, and the little fan wired into a manual switch on/off. Also, the big fan will be on a switch to shut it down.

I have a windstar setup like the one in the write up. http://users.adelphia.net/~bcnelson/truck/electricfans.html

Both motors have two wires on mine. I have the high speed fan wired to a switch so I can manually turn it on when I need it. I have the low speed fan wired into a temp switch and it comes on at 205ish and off at 185. I have it on a switch also so I can kill it to.

I thought the 3 wire fans were the single, 2 speed Taurus fans?

I got some from a member , and ended up selling them to Marv . At his house we tried the motors directly , and even the one with the two connections on the harness had 3 on the motor , and they all worked .

One common and two speeds .

Huh? :confused::haha: LOL!

For what it's worth the only reference I have for this suggestion of three wires is the following, see the last post;

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107342

The project is on temporary hold as the newest rad I bought, a low cost aluminum unit, (going on the sales guy's advice) is still smaller than stock and won't work with the fan shroud.

I've got myself a pretty good hookup with a local performance parts store and ended up ordering a Flexalite Flexifit rad which while pricey is what I wanted in the first place but was trying to be cheap about. I figured if I really wanted electric fans, I've ended up painting myself in a corner, where I'll be spending cash on either an aftermarket fan setup or use the Windstar's and go with a pricey rad. I figure in the long run this is the better of the two choices.

Sorry , I tried to say :

On the Windstar fans I had , one motor had a two wire plug on the harness . However the motor would accept a 3 wire plug .

So to recap I said , even the one that had two wires was really three wire at the motor .

Ahhhhh cool! Thanks for the translation. :D So when you were testing did it seem as though there were indeed two speeds available with the large fan?
