So I go to town in the 1993 Blazer and park. Visit my friend for almost three hours. I come out and the wind shield is cracked about two and a half inches up from bottom going left to right about where wheel would be in line with.

I get home and go to the 1987 and get a bag of M&Ms out and that truck has almost the same crack in it. So I am like wtf! :dunno:

I see safelite says they can repair cracks; has any one done this and if so how did it work?

Yes they can, but the crack has to be smaller than the size of a dollar bill. And they guarantee the repair.

I am a former Safelite repair tech, they should be able to fix cracks up to 6 inches and are pretty strong. The pricing depends on the tech as they are supposed to charge an additional $5 for every inch beyond 2" but not over 6" in total length. I never charged more than base price no matter how long it was. I've fixed cracks up to 18" long cause the guy didnt have the money to replace it, it was an old chevy too. You just need get it repaired ASAP and DONT TURN ON YOUR DEFROSTER!

The crack will still be noticeable, but far less than it is now. As for how strong they are, I've never had to do a warranty repair, or had a repair fail. The windshield was usually replaced due to new chips/cracks.

The guarantee is that if the repair fails or the windshield has to be replaced for any reason at all, The money you paid for the repair will be credited towards your new windshield.

If you ever get a chip or crack, get it fixed FAST. Fast temp changes, hard bumps, or stress on the body will make it spread. And the longer you wait, the more contaminated it becomes and will be more noticeable when repaired.

I wanna know how you didn't have a cracked windshield to begin with, every GM truck I've ever owned was cracked within a year or two of ownership :haha:
