So I know I can unhook them at the cowl and move them on the splined shaft to get them to a resting place that is lower. My thought is if I do that then they wont travel far enough (all most to the window seal) Is there a way to adjust the throw or am I over thinking this?

See attached photo and witness marks on dirty window. Currently they travel far enough I just don't like the resting place....

arm is not on spline right . or bent .

under the cowl area there is fixed length bent rods . no adjustment.

very true but wanna also grease balls that linkage arms pivot on and wish I could find better motor cause mine is slow slow!

Yea what causes the slowness? Is it because there is not relay? I have this same issue and unless it's wot it doesn't move the wipers...

As far as being slow check and clean the ground and also check voltage going to the motor when running. The motor itself could also just be old and tired like everything else on a 30+ year old truck.
