wiper problems on a 98 s-10

my friend is having problems with his wipers on his 98 s-10 blazer. I feel it is in the column. Someone told me it's probably his wiper switch in the column.

When he turns it to the left the wipers won't work usually. When we goes straight they work but only on fast speed or they won't work, or will stop intermitanlly. When he turns it to the right it will work most of the time.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

I know the module that is on the wiper motor itself have problems, especially if he has gotten water on the motor, it can do funky stuff like that.
