So my blazer is an 88 and the switch for the wipers used to be on the steering column with the turn signal switch but it apparently took a dump at one point and instead of fixing the the problem the PO cut a hole in the dash and put in a 3 speed toggle switch, very crudely I might add. Anyway I was looking for a new switch and realized not all blazers had the switch on the column. Looks like they started putting them there in 84? Anyone have a picture of where their switch is on their pre 83? I saw a switch like this and I think I like it better but need a nice place to put it.

thanks in advance.

No pics but it would be above the headlight switch.

On the gage bezel, left of the column about 3” up from the edge

Check the dash structure out. I don't know what the previous owner did to yours, but I know that the headlight switch moved a little when the wiper switch moved to the turn signal lever. This was brought to my attention by @500$k5 .
Depending on what has already been done to yours, it could be possible to swap to the older switch, but it may be difficult.

Good point, I’ll look into that, thanks.

Yes the headlight switch was moved up, when the wiper switch moved to the column.

Ok, my dash is kinda chopped up so it probably wouldn’t be tough to move it seeing as I have to patch it anyway thanks for the info.

I very much like the wipers on the column and would do some work to keep it that way. Reaching down to the dash to run the wipers just once here and there on a drizzly day gets really old. Or driving on really crappy roads where you need to use the washer is a similar situation. That's one of my least favorite ergonomic features of my '82 when it still had that system and our '74 is still on the dash too and it still sucks. We just don't drive it that much in crappy weather so it's not worth messing with.

Thanks for the input, it will all depend on how messed up the wiring is and if the switch on the column still works, after thinking about I decided it would be best to keep it on the column if I can so I’ll try to do that.
