wipers wont shut off

I have searched the topic, good information. the only difference i see is. my wiper swith is on the left side of my dash. not on the steering column. what to do? could it be the switch, or should i check/clean the connection on the wiper motor?

the plastic gear has worn the teeth off at the wiper motor.
so it doesnt know when it is in the park position.
easy to change
