Wondering if anyone has any idea why my wipers work but, even on high, are VERY slow.

The intermittent feature works but, again, wipers move extremely slow on intermittent, low and high, same speed...SLOW!

It is an '88 K5 Silverado with the pulse wiper/cruise/turn signal all on the one "lever."

I replaced a broken one with an aftermarket.

Could that be the problem or is there something else I should look for?

I've never encountered this before.

Thanks ahead of time for any help you all can give me.

Well if the change happened after the replacement then I would suspect it.
If not then I know some of these motors will slow down when one of the coils goes bad.
Also have you checked the linkage to make sure it is not rust or seized and putting strain on the motor?
And lastly I know wires degrade in time.
Try putting a thicker wire to get more juice flowing or use the wire to control a relay and get a good thicker wire straight from the battery.
It could be the new stalk has more resistance and the relay will solve this

imiceman44, Thanks for the quick response.
The wipers did this before the replacement.
The vehicle is extremely clean, linkages are in great shape (replaced arm assemblies also.)
Haven't been able to check wires (disabled) but will have them checked.
I will have my son run a wire from the battery to test. Great idea!
I thought a relay was either good or bad, no in between but in '88 they probably still had contacts which I wasn't thinking about.
(Was thinking solid state stuff, like a dummy!)
Thanks again, I will have those items checked. My son wondered about voltage but I assumed that wouldn't be it since everything I've seen inside the vehicle is in really good shape. Doesn't mean wires in engine compartment are good though.
I was thinking it just had to be a wiper motor going bad but wasn't having luck finding a replacement. Also, didn't want to spend (waste) any more money on this money pit before asking. Thanks again for your reply.

I also have a couple of wiper motors that I can test before sending if it turns out the motor is the problem

imiceman44, I appreciate that. I will have my son test everything to try to find the actual problem. If it needs a motor I will get back with you as soon as possible. Either way, I'll post whatever he finds.

I was just clueless till your post gave me some direction to start looking into.

Thank you, again, I really appreciate it.

You're welcome.

Same problem here. Took mine apart and cleaned real good. Mine come up good but drag going back down. It’s it’s raining it’s much better. Still looking though.

i had the connector plug one of the wires was working its way out of the plug

Try unplugging the delay module under dash by column. Plug the two harness together to see if it works. It it does then it is the delay module

Thanks for all the ideas.

My son is coming over this week and we'll go over these.

Thanks again as I had no idea where to even start.
