I have a '90 K5 with a wiper problem. The intermittent/delay would work except for manual and low speed. The other day, I realized I have no wipers. Turn signal, washer and high beam all work. I checked the fuse and wire plug in, tapped on motor, no luck. Any ideas?

For awhile my wipers would run non-stop after I used them to swipe the windshield once (unless I quickly switched them from high back to off) then would randomly just quit. Also ran fairly slow when they were working.

Swapped the motor out (had a used spare that I figured was good) and all problems went away.

If you really want to dig into it, the service manuals in the link in my signature cover how to troubleshoot wipers I'm sure. Wouldn't blame you, I don't like throwing parts at the problem, but when it completely quits, pretty obvious where the problem was.

Thanks...I read that may be the problem. It worked the other day and wouldn't the next. I'll make a couple of checks but will probably replace it.

I wrangled with the same wiper issues myself for a long time. Even a new wiper motor would get sluggish not long after install. Finally, I trashed using the grounding the way it was on the motor. I ran an actual grounding strap to the body near the wiper motor and haven't had issues since.

Anymore when I put something together that is an obvious ground, I try to make sure bare metal will remain in contact upon assembly, and use dielectric grease to attempt to keep the ground intact as long as possible by preventing corrosion. Paint, rust, or sealant will mess with grounding.
