i have .035 in the machine currently. i dont have any .032, but harbor freight has it sheep.
any suggestions?
the welder is a 175 century pro. (wire feed obviously)
i have mixed gas too if that matters. it sems that my welder welds better with smaller wire, but that might just be me.

035 is fine. I have a Lincoln 175 and it burns in very well on level C.

Biggest thing is just clean the gears up real well. They take weld very nicely.

be careful with the hf wire, i got a couple bad spools... i'll never run it thru my machine again..

X2 , I tried some of it once and it was junk !! Home depot usually stocks Lincoln brand wire and Sears sells Hobart brand , both of which seem decent :D

yeah, i run 12 pd spools of .030 Lincoln from homo depot.. think they run about $28 iirc...

thanks man. hay, when you guys coming down here for a tillamook run?

We were going to Apr 1,2,3, but the plans changed to Elbe. Just too far to come for a weekend! Hopefully next spring when deployment is over!

Lincoln L56. Best wire out there as far as i'm concerned. Bit more spendy but the arc is butter smooth.

i have ran 2 rolls of the hf in 023 with no problems. i havent tried the 035 yet. maybe i will get some good stuff for doin the spiders,

second this.

HF wire is in spec as far as welding wire goes, but its towards the bottom end. Lincoln wire hits right in the middle. One of my machines is calibrated to analyze the wire. Kinda cool

How do you know when the wire is bad?

Sometimes you can see it. Usually not the case though. Popping and sputtering. Arc isn't consistant. Bad feeding is a good indication. Consistancy is the best indication. For a guy that welds occasionally and less its gona be hard to tell.

You almost need to have a baseline reference for what "Good" wire is and how it behaves.

If you gas isn't up to par it will be more apparent as well.

both where feed issues.. like the diameter was bad in sections... jam up in the liner.... fix it... spool 10' off, reload, wont feed thru the liner, rinse, repeat.. definitely not the machine, feed adjustments, etc... ran to depot got a spool of L56, runs right thru, no issues, etc...

I've argued on another forum about HF wire being junk... I wont run that crap threw my machine... Same issues, feeding problems, popping, sputtering... It's not worth trashing my liner and dealing with all the headache... Just my $0.02...
