I've decided I need to clean up the wire mess on and around my engine and am trying to decide what kind of loom stuff to use. I'm not a huge fan of the chintzy plastic stuff you can get at Autozone or Home Depot or whatever. I'm considering Techflex F6: http://www.techflex.com/prod_f6n.asp

I've used their non-slitted braided wraps (http://www.techflex.com/prod_hwn.asp) on stuff and like it, but never this specific stuff. I'd be interested in any opinions on this or other options.

I'm not a big fan of the split woven braid loom since it is so bulky compare to regular woven braid. I also haven't really found any that is fire resist. However it easier to install on an existing wire harness.
I get my stuff from McMaster Carr.
I don't know if it is cheaper than your site.
That is my two cents.

Yeah, the unsplit is great stuff, but disconnecting everything is not an option here. I looked for something with a high temp rating, but everything is either normal, or super heat resist (expensive, bulky, hard to install). This stuff melts at 482F, so that's not bad.

By the way, anyone know if a plugged up EGR port gets extremely hot?

I've used and love that product, cleans up the wiring nicely.

:pimp:

For electrical supply, custom cables and a host of builder parts I use ceautoelectricsupply.com

You can call him up and tell him that crazy guy Shawn sent you.

He'll know which one :p

I've bought a bunch of wiring from ceautoelectricsupply.com. Good stuff.

I'll be picking up a bunch of that kind of sleeving to keep the engine clean. Check out www.wirecare.com I think it's their storefront.

I ordered a bunch from Wirecare last night. Ended up at nearly $100 for the different sizes, plus a cheap hot knife and some fusing tape. :eek1:

I think you can get some that shrinks 3x the actual size. It has been awhile sense I have done it.

Well, lots of work and it's still a bit messy, but better than before. I replaced (in one piece) the covering from the starter, up over the motor, around the distrib and over to the driver's firewall. An amazing amount of wiring for an old truck. I trimmed up a bunch of loose ends I had for "someday" sensors currently unused, like VSS and IAT. Also got rid of fuel pressure...

The F6 is pretty good stuff, though it's a little harder to get wires out mid loom because of the overlap. I really like the self-fusing electrical tape too.

Looks good. Your old harness looked somewhat clean. It sucks wrapping an old harness covered in oil and grime.
