Hi,

I've got a new CUCV wiring harness but I'm not sure if this harness will fit into my truck, I've a K5 Blazer with full options and these options might be the basic problem. I do not know if the wiring harness for the power doors (for example) does plug into the new CUCV block, so I do not know what wiring harness I should take for rewiring my Blazer. I have following options:

1. Take the new one from the CUCV: great, new, not hacked BUT: does it fit?

2. Take the old one from the Blazer (is a 6.2 Diesel) : BUT: harness is in very bad conditon

3. Take the good one out of my donor vehicle, 1986 GMC Jimmy, BUT: has 5.0 Gasoline Engine, do not know if it fits the diesel engine without a problem.

Here are pictures of the harnesses:

1. The new, CUCV harness:

The biggest problem is that I do not know how and where the power window harness and the AC harness has to be plugged in, oh, and the dual headlamps , don't know if that would work with my new harness too?

Thanks a lot for your advice ;-)

Greetings from Germany

I can only help on some of this, as I know very little of the diesel setups.

All the fuse panels physically interchange (at least up until 1988 or so), the firewall is the same in that location.

All the "accessories" should plug into the panel. GM *SHOULD* have left the accessory terminals hot, no reason not to, but I'd want to test them at least with a continuity tester and ignition switch to make sure, before doing all the work and finding out they don't work right.

As I recall on the headlights, all the controls/power are from the dimmer switch and the headlight switch, the fuse panel only serves to pass the wiring through. Another vote for making sure the terminals on the back side of the fuse block are "hot" when needed, and that the engine side of the fuse panel connector for headlights matches up. (wire to wire)

@Dyeager:
thank you very much -again- :rolleyes::rolleyes: :D you're always the first one who's answering my posts :bow::bow::bow: As you said, the fuse blocks are interchangeable, but I'm not so sure if gm left the terminals hot on the cucv harness, seems that many of the terminals are left "empty" ... all in all the biggest one of the blocks seems to be that one of the GMC (with the most terminals to plug stuff into) , but the Diesel K'5's fuse block and the CUCV fuse block seem to be similar.
... and if I put the new block in I really have to test the terminals,that's for sure otherwise I think I'll have to set the truck on fire, just imagine, all that hard work and that PITA to get all the wires back under the dashboard :D, and nothing works after everything is installed ?! :doah::(
@headlamp-issue:
thanks for that information, very helpful ;);)
