Ok, I need to replace the entire wiring harness on my 72... Under dash, under hood, taillights, everything. The truck already has an internally regulated alternator, but the harness just looks like crap and the reSt is OE so I figure it's worth my time and money to just start over. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on brand, where to find, price, etc. I would like to keep factory connections but wouldn't mind an updated block with blade-type fuses. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys,

Sean Smith

painless# 10206, it was the one for 67-72 chevy trucks, Most all the under dash was terminated with stock plugs, I had to chop all those off since the only stock thing under the dash was the windshield wiper motor.

It uses the newer atf fuses like the mid 80s chevy trucks do, really nice kit.

I orderd the kit through Summit with some conviluted tubing, I'm an electrical idiot but Justin put it in and he seemed pretty impressed with the kit.

Somebody out there makes a 100% authentic harness complete with the stock-style buss fuse holder.

I can't recall the name now, but I know it's come up before (search for it)... IIRC it was bank though (~$400 - $500). :dunno:

I went with a 20 circuit weather proof off road universal Painless Products harness part#10140. I am very impressed with the quality of the entire package. If you have a bunch of factory plugs that you wish to reuse, a chassis specific harness might be easier to install.

Not completely decided yet...

well, from what I can tell it looks like everything I've found for a complete harness is $400 or more. Painless seems to be what I'm leaning towards and seems to have the most amount of freedom/ease of installation. I'll let you guys know what I go with and how it goes. Thanks again for all the replies.
